Make this simple ½ lined casual Jacket ready for your summer wardrobe.

Over three consecutive evenings Gary will lead and guide you through the construction of his very own designed simple pattern for a softly tailored short jacket.

Skills you will cover are adjusting the pattern for sizing and getting the right fit, pattern layout and cutting, construction to include a set-in sleeve, a grown-on collar with facings, patch-pockets and binding internal seams for a professional finish.

Suitable fabrics: medium to heavy weight linen, needle corduroy, cotton drill & cotton twill, medium weight denim. Advice can be given as to suitable choice of fabrics.

Level of Experience

This class is suitable for the intermediate sewer : those who have some knowledge of using a sewing machine and basic construction skills (those wishing to improve their sewing skills)

Materials / Equipment required by Attendees


  • 1.5 metres of fabric
  • matching thread
  • contrast bias binding
  • matching machine sew all threads
  • 0.5 metre of light / medium weight iron on interlining.


  • a general sewing box containing dress making pins, scissors, needles and snips (if you don’t have any
    of this the teaching studio has some equipment you can borrow)
  • Sewing Machine

If you do not have a Sewing Machine, or don’t want to bring your own, you can use one of our latest Brother demonstration machines for the nominal fee of £3.00 per session.

Places on workshops are secured by a £10 cash deposit at the time of booking and balance payable on the day direct to the workshop leader.
